Linlithgow Art Collective created

"Former Linlithgow Academy art students are trying to paint a bright future for local talent with the creation of an arts collective.

Art teacher Peter Scott, chairman of the group, explained the plans for the Linlithgow Arts Collective. He said: “All 15 members are former graduates of art classes at Linlithgow Academy and consider the town to be their creative base. Once finished their education at university, the collective want to return home to something positive. Our aim is to raise public interest in our work and our talent, and from that raise funds in order to rent premises in the town. This would act as a project space for the students to use and develop into a workshop and gallery space over time.”

Local businesses have been quick to show their support for the collective, with the Line Gallery offering space for the group to host their first annual show. Due to open at the end of February, the exhibition will showcase the work of the group.

Linlithgow’s new boutique hotel, the Court Residence, has also offered its court room space for future shows.

The art collective hope to sustain creative talent for future generations and ask anyone who can help their cause in any way to contact"
